How did you verify it was correctly written? Did you restart httpd after modifying the file so the server was using the new config data?

My reference to a "possible bug" is in redhat-config-httpd. I did check the httpd.conf and the line is correctly written with a colon. And I've restarted Apache religiously every time I made a change.
