I've a work arround that worked for me:

Open nautilus and enter in the location field :
'/home/yourname/.themes/' cut off the directory conaining the icon theme
you have installed by gnome theme manager and paste it in
'/home/yourname/.icons'.

I think a symlink will work, too.
