I too and running an SMP system so I looked through the bug list. I have
been running Linux on it since RedHat 7 (off and on). My system has been
running for 25 days now without reboot. I use it as a firewall/dhcp
server for a small network. I also use it part time as a work station
and an ogg player, some programming etc. It's an older system MSI 694D
and ACPI is disabled. I don't really use SMB or NFS (these were both
mentioned as possible issue with lock-ups)

I looked through the bug list mentioned above and it seems to me that
there are quite a few different issues going on there. I was plagued by
one of them (crash during boot) while using RedHat 9. The system was
fine for a long time and after an update would not longer boot SMP. The
update turned out to be a red herring. I tried many things to get it to
work. The entire time it would boot Win 2k without problems. I later
discovered if I left it off over night I could boot SMP. I tracked it
down to a bad fan on my video card.
