That's what I did (replace the existing line). If you look in
/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit, you'll see where it sets the console font to the
value of SYSFONT. That's the point during bootup at which you're seeing
the font change back to the bigger size.
Thanks a lot. That did the trick. I think it ought to go into a FAQ
somewhere, as I found a number of such questions when trawling with
Google looking for an answer, but no satisfactory answers!
