Verify that you have compat-libstdc++ installed.  The flash plugin depends
on its presence on the system.

As for plugin location, I have noticed that when using the flash installer
included in the tarball from Macromedia, specifying /usr/lib/mozilla
doesn't appear to work.  I ended up specifying /usr/lib/mozilla-<version>
and all was well.  Maybe just something weird with my setup.
