I suppose in order to keep the destination side from keeping files they
may remove one could do this. But if the source side removes the entire
tree for one reason or another then when rsync runs it would delete the
files on my destination side as well resulting in a lot of lost time and
the repository would be gone on the destination side.

So no I don't think I would need to add the --delete option unless
someone has more information to offer.
