I was trying to change DNS settings using the network configuration tool but couldn't save changes because it couldn't save to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-lo.rpmsave. I searched the archives and saw a posting from Leonard den Ottolander (thanks Leonard) that suggested checking for a linked copy of ifcfg-lo in /etc/sysconfig/networking. Sure enough, the file didn't exist on either of my Fedora boxes. I created the files and linked them, and now the tool works on both boxes. My question: should I have copies of any other files in /etc/sysconfig/networking? A lonely copy of ifcfg-lo is all that is in there now. If you haven't guessed I don't have a clue as to why copies of the file in two places is neccessary in the first place.
