Apt vs. Yum vs. up2date?

Okay, I'm going to show my ignorance here...

I've decided to try out fedora core 1 when it comes out, on my home server
(wish me luck! :)

I have been using up2date since RH 8.0, and really enjoy its ease of use
and power. However, I don't have the $60 to pay RH for a home up2date
subscription. So, I guess I need to switch my update methodology.

I've heard of apt-get and yum on this list...can anybody give me a short
idea of the differences between them? I just don't have the time to try
and research both just now, and need to direct my efforts efficiently.

Thanks!

Ben
