Ethics aside, it's legal in the US. The company owns the mail system
and can therefore dictate the purpose and use of it. Most US companies
periodically distribute a memo that says the e-mail system is for
business use only and that mail may be monitored. There has been a
number of court cases about monitoring business mail that has gone all
the way to the USSC.

In practice, monitoring is only done if there is a reason. Maybe
Craig's boss has a reason.
