gnome-terminal hide-depth

I noticed the 'hidden' gnome terminal sticks out more in gnome 2.4 than
it used to in gnome 2.2, or whatever was with shrike. Is this
custimisable? (or was it another decision made for me :) I had a look
around gconf editor, but I couldn't see anything there. However, is it
much like the windows registry, where I've had to add 'keys' that don't
yet exist to get certain functionality? Is this the right place to
look?

TIA,
