arjan's 2.6test kernels and sound
I tried the "install" and "remove" lines for /etc/modprobe.conf but they made no difference. Then I tried substituting "kallsyms" for "ksyms" in /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit, but that did not change anything either.
I finally added "/sbin/modprobe cmpci" to /etc/rc.local and that works around it for now.
