I've asked this before on aurora-sparc-devel (Aurora being a Sparc Linux based on RHL 7.3 with intention to move to RHL 8/9 - lead by Tom Callaway, whose name has already been mentioned). The answer at the time was that thought is being spent on this, so there's definitely something going on behind the scenes. So, it's not quite *that* dreamy - there is a chance... :-) And in the meantime, if you haven't done so already, have a look at Aurora Sparc Linux ( http://auroralinux.org/ ) - it's already quite usable.
