I had the problem on my Sister's machine last year but stopped the helpdesk man talking them through the process and we went and bought another drive and put it in to do the restore on .At least all the data was on the second drive. If you do that sort of thing remember to swap the master slave jumpers. OS on one partition data on another good. OS on one drive data on another even better. Backups better still. Regards Roger
