There certainly seems to be a problem with using ldap as an NSS source
for the hosts database.
Did you use the service "dns" before "ldap": ldap itself tries to resolve
some hostnames:
getent -s 'dns ldap' hosts xxx
works, while
getent -s 'ldap' hosts xxx
hangs (but actually does not segfault ...)
