Hi again:
I don't understand what problems are having people using synaptic. My
system is 256 MB and runs very well. Apt-rpm + synaptic is fantastic for
me. Some times seems to be a delay after download packages and the rpm
-e/Uv/-i process, but never has been more than 5 minutes, if your system
seems to freeze, be patient to be sure that is freezing really.
Please, remember that sometimes rpm 'freezes' but is not synaptic
problem, is rpm problem and any tool using rpm can be affected and if rpm
freezes, the tool using rpm will get freezed.
If anybody gets this freezes try to kill synaptic or the tool using
rpm. Kill any proceses related to rpm and go to /var/lib/rpm and delete
this three files __db.001, __db.002, __db.003

      Try synaptic or rpm again.

HTH

I'd always found it to be slow and buggy on my RH7.3 then after an
upgrade, RH9 box. It seemed like anytime I did anything other than just
upgrading packages, it'd freeze up after downloading them, but before
installing/removing packages. Is my 256MB causing the slowness as
another fellow suggested?
