Haha!  Since there's been no response like; "That happens to me too!"  I 
guess it is local to this laptop.  As you can tell, it isn't a 
showstopper but it would be nice find out what the cause is.  Since 
this only happens on Linux (it's a dual boot w/ Win2k)  I  was thinking 
software but .......
