Breakups and gaps and pauses could be Samba easy enough, but Samba just delivers the requested data, hopefully on time, it doesn't determine the speed that stuff is shunted to the output device. Sounds more like the kernel timer is set wrong on your machine, or there is a problem with the audio device clock rate?
