Presently, I am using Mozilla mail. It has a visual notifier on the browser. The feature is not available when upgrades to thunderbird and firebird.
May switch to kmail when other features such as spam filter, and etc. are tested okay.

Kmail does. I'm not sure wheather or not you have to be in a
KDE-environment to have it work, but I believe Kmail would be able to
independantly.
Others would have to confirm the remaining MUAs, as I have little experience with them.
