John, as an RH9 user, FC1 will seem very familiar to you, only better. I've found it to be a noticeably more responsive desktop than RH9. Give it a try and see if you agree. As for upgrades, presumably, we'll all be able to upgrade to the next release via yum, and to apply ad hoc upgrades as they become available.
