Cut and Paste problem.

I use FC1 2135.nptl.Athlon, KDE.3.1, MozillaFirebird/thunderbird.

My problem is that I cannot paste a cut from the kde terminal to 
firebird or thunderbird,
It works well within kde or moz and the clipboard appears to work but 
'paste' is not part of
the drop menu in moz when using the clipboard between the two.
I have hunted around for an answer but found little,maybe I have not 
configured it properly.
