I read in the release notes that prelinking is enabled by standard in FC1. I've just upgraded my RH9 machine to FC1 and I cannot find any evidence of the prelink RPM being installed and the /etc/sysconfig/prelink file does not exist. Am I right in assuming that prelinking is only standard if you do a fresh install as opposed to an upgrade? My next question then, do I just issue a 'yum install prelink' and then set up prelinking myself? I once used prelinking on a Gentoo system following these instructions: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/prelink-howto.xml I'm guessing I can just follow those instructions (minus the Gentoo-specific stuff) and just basically issue a 'prelink -afmR'. Please could someone let me know if I'm way off the mark on this one?! My last question: will the installation of prelink create my /etc/sysconfig/prelink file or will I need to make one myself? If I do need to make my own, could someone please post an example of theirs? Thanks, Tim
