NO BOOT!!! NT loader

I'm new to Linux and wanted to use the NT loader as I still want XP to work well. I have two 120GB drives, hda with XP and recently installed hdb with Fedora. I want to use nt loader and not have to monkey around with the MBR of hda as She Who Must Be Obeyed uses this (for the time being). I looked at some docs before I installed and configured advanced boot loader options so that it installed GRUB on the first sector of the boot partition. I also followed the rest of http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Linux+NT-Loader.html but the only thing that happens when I select Linux from the nt boot menu is a blinking underscore, Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't work so I have to hit the power button. Also, I have physically unhooked hda and set hdb as single and the same thing happens. What's going on??? I've also tried bootpart but that doesn't work either, it gives a weird <windowsroot>system32\hda.dll not found (something like that). PLEASE HELP!!! NTFS for the XP HD btw.
Also, what would happen if I disconnected hda and made fedora think that I only had one drive when installing and then hooking it back up like before? (As I might be trying that, although I don't think it would like it)
