I have a similar setup (printeron a WinXP box and FC1 as Samba client). 
What solved it in my case  was to entered a valid User/Password on the 
printer configuration tool (Queue type tab).

I am using my Samba server as PDC so my user/password matches both the 
XP and Linux boxes. You may have to double check the U/P XP expects.
