If color printing is not an issue or concern I can recommend a
Brother HL-1440

Comes stock with 2Mb of Ram & will accept an additional single SIMM of
up to 32Mb 
speaks postscript & pcl. Stock drivers work flawlessly
costs about US$150 for a nice personal laser printer
