Well,

At the risk of talking to myself I did find the answer to my own 
question.  I did indeed need to do more configuration.  The 
properties of each of the entries in the "Application Preference 
Order" can be edited. Once in the properties, the "execute" tab's 
"command:" needs to be modified to read:

mozilla %u

and then Mozilla will work as expected when a link is clicked in 
kmail.
