yes, months ago the upstream driver was a bit old. But _today_ they are
very well maintained.

LSI SYM-2 driver is _very_ bad maintained, the 2.4 maintainer is
_missing_ since several months. And latest patch, one year old, is still
without to apply!!. LSI MPT fusion also has problems, and the driver
is being updated slowly.

megaraid kernel driver had problems too. Until 2.4.23 the kernel brought
a very old version.

Adaptec aicxxx and LSI MegaRAID boards are the best SCSI and RAID
solutions for LiNUX _today_, IMO.
