Ok, a mistake of mine: the file is /etc/sysconfig/network
Edit the file /etc/sysconfig/netword
and add a line like this:
GATEWAY=192.168.0.254
And the the GATEWAY variable must be your default gateway.
After it, try restarting the network service:
# /etc/init.d/network restart
has no effect.
