I used (punch me if you want) graphical tools for that, worked fine with me.

redhat-config-network

how can set the default route?
afte booting i can change it by route del and route add.
But what can i do the i not need to modify the routing tabPle after boot
via hand?

Edit the file /etc/sysconfig/netword

and add a line like this:

GATEWAY=192.168.0.254

has no effect.
