Add some RAM if you can. The PII/366 is plenty enough processor to run a Gnome desktop - my primary machine used to be a TP 770X (300 MHz PII). Another thing that'll make your 570 a bit more enjoyable is a faster disk. 40GB 5200 RPM drives are cheap these days, and will just about half the loading time of most applications compared to the old/slow drive that came with your laptop originally. (TP 570E here - 450 MHz PIII, 320M RAM, 40 GB 5200 RPM drive, running FC1 and Gnome with all the trimmings. ;) ) -- -------------------------------------------------------------------- * Charles Taylor <tomalek@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> * Chemistry teacher, Linux enthusiast! -------------------------------------------------------------------- * Web: http://home.mindspring.com/~charletiv/ --------------------------------------------------------------------
