Both CD writers worked fine in RH9. I'm not sure what one I have in my
laptop, the I'm using a Plextor 12/10/32A in my desktop.

Whereabouts on fedora.us are those packages, I want to try the same version
as you and I can't see them :(

How would I do that - I've only ever used k3b - I've got a bin/cue ready.

Is k3b going to be added? It'll make things alot easier for me :)
