Let me elaborate. Hardware is desktop system, nforce2 chipset based
UP motherboard. CPU is Sempron 2500+. SATA disk, matrox card with fbcon,
Intel e1000 networking.

gam_server uses inotify, but regardless polls some socket very
frequently. Python process is driving gDesklets, two of them are
updating every second -- a clock and disk bandwidth meter. mixer_applet
is doing someting stupid, but GNOME developers are aware of problem.

  I'm attaching:
  - dmesg from vanilla 2.6.15
  - dmesg from 2.6.15-ck1
  - .config from 2.6.15-ck1

Hope this helps somehow to locate the problem.
