Fedora 9 / KDE 4 / Open Office / nvidia driver

Has anyone else experienced this ?

install the nvidia driver from lvn9
log in to kde 4.(0 or 1)
start open office writer and open a file

at this point if you move the cursor over anything in the taskbar/panel
the icons 'freak out' . They get dark, unreadable, distorted blah blah .
It was bad on kde4.0 and is worse on kde 4.1 . Removing the nvidia
driver makes the problem go away .
removing the '.kde' directory didn't help . Under gnome it doesn't do this .
