That's what her laptop has.

So if she gets a crossover Ethernet cable she can plug one end into her laptop
and the other end into the Windows computer, and then set up connection sharing
on the Windows computer and everything should then work?  The Internet
connection would come in over the USB cable to the Windows computer and then
pass through to the laptop?

This does indeed sound like it will get her where she wants to go.
