An mplayer audio filter may help. From the mplayer manpage -af volume=10.1:0 on the mplayer commandline will "amplify the sound by 10.1dB and hard-clip if the sound level is too high" Also try, while the DVD is running, hitting the zero key a few times to increase the normal mplayer volume level. -Andy
