Hello guys,
I am having a strange problem using K3B on fedora core 3/4.
I have a Philips DVD writer 16X/8Xrw 40x for cd in my machine and
whenever I burn dvds K3B won't recognize the full capabilities of
my burner.
Even if I choose auto mode for dvd writing speed k3b still writes
at 8x maximum and there is no mention in the speed section of the
16x choice. Is there anyway I can I can hack k3b configuration in
order to get this feature enabled?

Thanks a lot.

What do the log messages state?

Is the media capable of burning at that speed?

nothing in the logs I have seen, no errors, I am using the correct
media, it just always burns at half speed.

When you use 8X media, does it burn at 8X?

I only have 8X media and it always burns at 8X in auto mode. For some crappy no-brand stuff I slow it down to 6X and this also works fine.

John

John,

What type/model of dvd burner do you have? I always have trouble
burning on a Sony DRU-530a. I'm beginning to thing the problem is
with the VIA interface.

thanks,

NEC ND3520A 16X Dual Layer.

Not sure what you mean by the VIA interface? My burner is on a VIA chipset IDE interface (Via KT600 / 8237).

John
