You were absolutely right Mike. I just had to change the "DEVICE=eth0:1"to just "DEVICE=eth0".... and now it works... The Gnome 'Network' GUImust have put that there for some stupid reason.... I'm not going to useit anymore.... but it work great now. When the machine boots up itactually processes the ifcfg-eth0-range0 file and by the time the httpdservice starts during bootup the necessary ip addresses are availablefor the apache server to bind to. This is great...

The lesson I 've learned here is that I need to stop thinking that GUItools provided in Redhat/Fedora to configure these configuration filesis the best route, and get used to just editing my configuration filesmanually to ensure the configurations are following the proper format.

If not due to the above "DEVICE" setting then I don't know why yourattempt failed. Here is a sequence of my FC3 box that I juststepped through for the first time on this box and, as you can see,it worked as expected:
