You won't find the package you're looking for in any of the Sun libraries.

Java package naming conventions are that the package name should be the reverse of the URL of the company supplying the package. Therefore, you need to be looking at mysql.com. Try http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/j/3.1.html for their jdbc driver, which is what you're looking for, I suspect.

Subject: OOo, MySQL and Java problem

I am trying to reproduce the method described in this excellent article
to use MySQL as a backend to OpenOffice:

http://software.newsforge.com/article.pl?sid=05/07/12/1544207&tid=93

However, my OOo fails with the error:

com.mysql.jdbc.Driver not found in
gnu.gcj.runtime.SystemClassLoader{urls=[file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/jurt.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/ridl.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/java_uno.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/sandbox.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/bsh.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/classes.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/commonwizards.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/docbook.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/htmlsoff.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/java_uno_accessbridge.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/js.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/juh.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/jut.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/letter.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/officebe

These are the Java packages installed on my system:

java-1.4.2-gcj-compat.i386
java-1.5.0-sun.i586
java-1.5.0-sun-alsa.i586
java-1.5.0-sun-demo.i586
java-1.5.0-sun-devel.i586
java-1.5.0-sun-fonts.i586
java-1.5.0-sun-jdbc.i586
java-1.5.0-sun-plugin.i586
java-1.5.0-sun-src.i586

I can't find com.mysql.jdbc.Driver in any package.

Any suggestion, please?
