OOo, MySQL and Java problem

I am trying to reproduce the method described in this excellent article
to use MySQL as a backend to OpenOffice:

http://software.newsforge.com/article.pl?sid=05/07/12/1544207&tid=93

However, my OOo fails with the error:

com.mysql.jdbc.Driver not found in
gnu.gcj.runtime.SystemClassLoader{urls=[file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/jurt.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/ridl.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/java_uno.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/sandbox.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/bsh.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/classes.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/commonwizards.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/docbook.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/htmlsoff.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/java_uno_accessbridge.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/js.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/juh.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/jut.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/letter.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/officebean.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/query.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/report.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/ScriptFramework.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/ScriptProviderForBeanShell.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/ScriptProviderForJava.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/ScriptProviderForJavaScript.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/unoil.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/web.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/XFlatXml.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/xmerge.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/XMergeBridge.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/XSLTFilter.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/XSLTValidate.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/xt.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/agenda.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/avmedia.jar,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/fax.jar,file:./,file:./,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/hsqldb.jar,file:/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/classes/sdbc_hsqldb.jar,file:./,file:./], parent=gnu.gcj.runtime.ExtensionClassLoader{urls=[], parent=null}}

These are the Java packages installed on my system:

java-1.4.2-gcj-compat.i386
java-1.5.0-sun.i586
java-1.5.0-sun-alsa.i586
java-1.5.0-sun-demo.i586
java-1.5.0-sun-devel.i586
java-1.5.0-sun-fonts.i586
java-1.5.0-sun-jdbc.i586
java-1.5.0-sun-plugin.i586
java-1.5.0-sun-src.i586

I can't find com.mysql.jdbc.Driver in any package.

Any suggestion, please?
