Hello,

I want to do some database stuff with OO.o and PostgreSQL. I'm trying to
turn on Java support in OO.o in order to add PostgreSQL JDBC driver and
I am having trouble with turning it on. In Tools -> Options ->
OpenOffice.org -> Security I turn Java support on and click Ok button.
Next time I open Options dialog and I see that java support is still
off.

I have Sun Java 1.4 installled and java binary in my $PATH. I use OO.o
1.1.3 on FC3.

Does anybody know what might be the problem?

Yes: OpenOffice.org of FC3 is _compiled without_ Java Support. Try ODBC.

Greetings

If you want to use JAVA, the openoffice site has 1.9 which requires java to run base.

You might also want to test out the rpms hat might be a part of FC4 at the below location.

http://people.redhat.com/caolanm/openoffice.org2

They work somewhat, but are tests and I had success with creating dbase type tables, but not forms yet.

As a note, the openofficeorg rpms crashed periodically on both wintel and linux versions.

If oo for FC3 has java support off, you might compile from source or try to get the stable rlease version from openoffice.org.
