since its usb just keep an extra mouse plugged into the usb of the linux. it
must have a mouse at boot time to continue using a  mouse .

I have a k,v,m  switch betwennn 2 fc1 boxes but have to keep a mouse (not
usb) plugged in for each.
might be a simple hardware fix for a software problem.
