I was reading an unrelated post today that refered to
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=89226. This bug
discusses some memory management issues with RedHat 9. One of the post
seemed to indicate that this problem was fixed in Fedora; however, some
of the problem descriptions reminded me of this thread. It might be
something to look at.
