The situtation right now: I've installed the Helix Player, both by hand
(unpack archive into /usr/local and make a symbolic link
/usr/local/bin/hxplay -> /usr/local/HelixPlayer/hxplay) and using Thomas
Chung's instructions at fedoranews.org. Either way I get an error box
every time I try to play a Real
stream. This is on two quite different pieces of hardware.

I get the same error message. Best as I can figure, hxplay is
complaining that it can not find the web address located inside of the
file downloaded from NPR. If you display the downloaded .smil file and
run hxplay with the url found in the .smil file, hxplay works.

Has anyone been able to get HelixPlayer working on FC1?

Hxplay does work if you open an existing file on your system.

I've submitted bug 1114 to the helix community. See
http://helix-dna.helixcommunity.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=1114

I got it installed without any problem, also using Thomas's tutorial.
I only have that same error ("Unexpected error code (0x800400C9)") if I try to open a ram file by clicking on it... if I open helix and open the file through the program (file->open) it works as advertised.
