I'm running the binary nVidia driver from rpmfusion.org. It has worked well historically, but the latest update (Feb 13, 2011) seems to have broken things. I recently updated from a fully functional 260.19.29 installation to 260.19.36. Now, things don't work. Using an nVidia GeForce GT 220 card, I get a black screen (and system crash) when X starts. Using a GeForce 8400 GS (in the same system) is a little better: X runs for a few minutes (2-18, depending on how lucky I am) until the whole system locks up. When I say crash or locked up, I mean it; I can't log in via ssh, and existing ssh sessions hang. Details: * Fully patched (as of Feb 13, 2011) Fedora 14 system * Worked fine until "yum update" of 260.19.36 nvidia code * i7-950 CPU on Asus P6T Deluxe motherboard. 12 GB RAM. * Normally use a GeForce GT 220 card, but I have an old 8400 GS which I can use for testing. As part of my troubleshooting steps, I "yum remove"ed all of the \*nvidia\* packages. Then, reinstalled them. I'm getting the same problem. I've got all the details here: https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1630 I'm not sure what is the most appropriate place to post this issue. This list is the first place I looked to see if anyone else is having this problem. I'm hoping that I can save someone else some frustration!
