It would show us what the *system* thinks it was doing and whether or not it chose a sane driver for the video card. > Section "Device" > Identifier "Videocard0" > Driver "vesa" > EndSection Ouch! VESA is the last haven of the unknown video card! If you are looking for 3D support for videos, vesa is *NOT* the driver you want to be using! Where is the output from the "lspci | grep VGA" command? On my laptop, its: > 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M56P [Radeon Mobility X1600] As you can see, it tell me exactly what my video card is. If you add 1 or 2 -v options to the lspci command, you can see more (and more) detail about it. > Xorg.0.log is long. No, its using VESA because that's the driver specified in your xorg.conf file. We need to determine *what* your video card really is, and what X will do with it on its own.... Please, send output of "lspci | grep VGA" and where is the Xorg.0.log output that tells us what video card you are using? (I think you snipped it.) Are you trying to hide it???? I'm looking for a line in your Xorg.0.log like the following from my laptop: > [ 56.781] (--) PCI:*(0:1:0:0) 1002:71c5:1043:10b2 rev 0, Mem @ 0xc0000000/268435456, 0xfeff0000/65536, I/O @ 0x0000b000/256, BIOS @ 0x????????/131072 Which should describe your video card in hairy detail.... It should be just after the *'d comment box that Fedora added to tell you about the new udev-based device detection. > I can attach the whole thing if that's better. I would prefer to see the output with *no* /etc/X11/xorg.conf file in place. I'd like to see what video card it thinks it is using, and what driver it loaded on its own, and what it has to say about the card's video modes, and the monitor's EDID capabilities, and what extensions it thought to load....
