knetworkmanager is not installed.

I am trying to set it up both with and without a network manager.  Network manager never has worked properly for me (in KDE).   When setting it up manually, I am using managed mode and specifying the network ID.

Any ideas ?   What has changed recently with regards to wireless ?

Thanks !
