I searched testdisk project site [0] and found the following: <quote> Destination filesystem must have enough space to store the file. Note that the size of the image is equal to the size of the partition, but storing a file require more space than the filesize because of the filesystem overhead. </quote> I was trying to rescue partitions to the home directory but probably testdisk (or dd?) uses /tmp, and I have only 9.3 GB of free space under /. But filesize restriction of 2GB despite of different partitions looks suspicious. Pity I don't have 64 bit computer on the hand and can't find any maillists or help-forums devoted to testdisk.
