You need to give some basic information:

1) What version of Evo is this?
2) What kind of mail account has the problem? POP? IMAP? Exchange?, ...

Also:

3) When you visit the account's Trash folder within Evo, does it contain
deleted messages?
4) Is your /home filesystem nearly full? How about your /tmp filesystem?
5) Are any local (i.e. POP) folders near 2GB in size (can give problems
in Evo versions prior to 2.32)?
6) With or without a Trash directory on your filesystem, Evo should
still show its own Trash folder (which has a special icon). Is this what
you see?
