I just ran file over every .wav on my system.  They are all Microsoft
PCM.  Some are 16 bit, some are 8 bit.  Some are stereo, some mono, and
the frequencies vary.  I suspect your problem is the MPG Layer 3 part.
But, that's just a WAG on my part.
