I mean ANY ideas, I'm out of clues on this one. References welcome. "Going through all the motions" is kinda vague. Does it POST (Power on Self-Test) or not? A motherboard and CPU should POST (emit beeps) with *nothing else* (not even memory or keyboard and certainly not a video card) installed, unless something important has changed since the last time I confronted this situation. If it does POST, the beep codes at one time would tell you what was (not) happening.
