I'm running Fedora-13/KDE on the same machine - EeePC 4G 701 -
and it runs fine.
I increased the RAM to 2GB, and also use a 8GB SD card.
The main problem is the size of my fingers.
Also I find NetworkManager hard to follow when changing site;
basically I click on icons at random for a few minutes,
and this usually brings NM up.
